When I went out to work for myself, I never imagined that it would go this far. I wanted to offer a better and more customer friendly service than the company I used to work for. Looking back, I seemed to have achieved this and more. I hope the challenges ahead will be as much fun as the previous year.
Like most family run companies, there has to be a hard working team in the background. I give my opinions on which direction the company should take and plan for the future ahead. We are a team and all get along well with each other and that's what make us stand out from other companies that are just there to fit or fix boilers.
I answer the phone, make the appointments for the engineers and keep the computer up to date regarding the servicing and repairs. A lot of my time is spent talking to customers which is nice as First Call Heating has built a good business on personal service and recommendations. I also make a lot of coffee and do the washing of cups.
I am 30 years old and have been in the industry since I left school. I have worked for First Call Heating for over ten years and enjoy doing both installation and servicing. As the longest serving engineer, I help the other team members with in depth knowledge that comes with being in the industry for so long. I am married and we have a young daughter, which keeps us on our toes.
I have been with First Call Heating since 2002. I served a full apprenticeship and qualified in 2000. I mainly do the technical boiler breakdowns and servicing. This can be fairly challenging but having completed all of the courses, I know most of the problems that boilers and heating systems present. I am married with 2 sons which take up most of my time and thoroughly enjoy my home and work life.
I have re-trained after spending many years in the forces, which took me all over the world. I have adapted my forces skills to the heating industry. I qualified in 2007 after training at First Call Heating for the previous 2 years. We have only one way to put in systems and that's the correct way, which I have been taught. This gives me pride in my work and many happy comments on the company feedback page. I am a family man with 2 sons and enjoy playing football and play bass in a local band.
I also have re-trained like Jez and have worked for First Call Heating since 2007 and thoroughly enjoy working for a smaller company. I like the camaraderie and friendly atmosphere with the emphasis on quality of workmanship and putting the customer first. I am married with young children but still find time to have fun.
I mainly do the routine servicing and checking of gas appliances, which involves quite a lot of fine tuning of boilers to get the maximum efficiency which appeals to me and the customers. I trained with a national gas company but did not feel like part of a team. I joined First Call Heating in 2007 and have not looked back. I am single and enjoy the life on the water and often sail to the Isle of Wight for the weekends.
I am the apprentice and assist everyone where I can. I qualified in Plumbing NVQ2 and hope to complete my NVQ3 in 2010, I hope to stay here for many years. Outside of work I enjoy playing football and keeping fit.
